BASIC MED
May 1 is the target date to start flying under Basic Med. Basic Med is not a Medical Certificate. Basic Med is authorization to fly under certain requirements. Third class, second class and first class are Medical Certificates under FAR – 61:23. Basic Med is an alternative to the Third Class Certificate.

AIRCRAFT SPECIFICATIONS:
Up to six (6) seats, up to 6,000 pounds, with no limitations for horsepower, number of engines, or gear type.

Day or night VFR or IFR.

Aeromedical factors:
Pilots must take a free online medical course every two years. Get a physical from a Doctor every four years and complete the FAA Med. Check list. Keep a copy in your log book
AIRSPEED RESTRICTIONS:
250 kts. Indicated.
PILOT LIMITATION:
Cannot operate for compensation or hire
FLIGHT INSTRUCTORS:
FAA considers the flight instructor who is acting as PIC to be “receiving compensation for his or her flight instruction” under instructor privileges but is exercising private pilot privileges while acting as PIC of the flight.
(English: Flight instructors can use Basic Med privileges and still instruct as log he is exercising private pilot privileges while acting as PIC)
